The Kha'ita - Alien Species

Okay, so recently I've been working on this alien species, well for the past three or so weeks, and here it is. I want to create a planet and homes for them eventually.
Also I wasn't sure if I should mark this as Mature Content because of nipples... which it shouldn't be considered, but you know people...

   Information:

- They are born either male or female and then switch gender when it's needed, the pods (shown) are what they form to change sex. Being that they change, their bodies are basically the same, just slight changes in plating, color and their 'hair'.

- They do not have noses, instead the tentacle like tendrils that form 'hair' absorbs smells and senses vibrations. 

- Their planet is primarily made up of water with small islands dotting the world which hold villages.

- They live in wooden houses on land, though they require a humidifiers to prevent them from dehydrating, they live on land because of a fierce nocturnal predator that cannot leave the water.

- Their water has low levels of salt, which they can drink easily with no issues. Though there is also some fresh water ponds/rivers/streams on their islands.

- The flaps on their face pull back to expose their sharp teeth and allow their jaw to de-hinge and so they can easily bite into their prey and, in some cases, swallow it whole. (Though they prefer to cook it)

- They also have poisonous barbs on the back of their knees and elbows, which protects them from predators. The poison isn't automatically there, they have to force it out like a snake would, so that they don't harm each other.

- They give birth to large eggs, their babies later nurse from them until they grow their first set of teeth.

- Their teeth grow back after breaking, which is very rare but it happens, as such they have no nerve in their teeth thus meaning they can't feel the pain of a tooth breaking.

- They can see UV light and fluorescent light.

- Their blood (pictured) is normally a dull yellow but when it hits water at night time it glows fluorescent yellow, which their predators can easily see. 

- The red on freckles on their body glow with bioluminescence along with their webbing, the tips of their tendrils and the very edge of each plating on their hips

- The plating on their bodies is soft to the touch, meaning that it bends if you put pressure on it like regular skin, but if force is applied quickly it feel like a rock (Think that gloop stuff you make with corn starch, if you hold it, it goes through your fingers, if you hit it, it turns hard.) 

- The orange on their faces is identifying paint, they have a few varying styles but they are all basically the same, though males and females are not the same. The paint is water proof and is also used as a way to tell people from different villages apart.

- Since their pods are so large they have to be underwater, they had guards that stay in the water with them over night to protect them from predators.

- They have a clicking language underwater and a regular language for on land, though when experiencing excitement or anger they have the clicking while they talk. 

- Their feet are basically two strong toes and a paddle connecting the two. 

- They have advanced technology and can travel space, but they are stuck to their roots, they have one room in their house that is filled with technology but primarily they stick with tradition and keep their houses nice and homey. They love to decorate their homes with trophies and rugs.

- They can breath oxygen and H2O, though the first requires humidifiers after a while. 

- (Since I want them mainly in the Mass Effect Series, though they are a general alien species) When they travel off world they have to wear suits that have humidifiers built in, or else they have trouble breathing, they can survive for a while without the suit's humidifier but they eventually need it or they become dehydrated and sick.

- They are very cultural and love tradition, they have modified weapons that they use to hunt and defend themselves with. A lot of their weapons are bow based and spear based. 

I found a LOT of inspiration with the Yautja species, also known as the Predator from AVP the Predator movies.
