This spider was on the side of my house a few days ago, when my Dad took it off of the siding it kept rearing it's fangs up at us, he put it in a jar and left it, since we had no idea what kind of spider it is we didn't want to take any chances with it biting Casey or one of us... you never know... This is the underside of the spider, can anyone tell me what it is? SERIOUSLY!!! I WANT TO KNOW!!!!! TT^TT :iconshiverplz:
It was really big too, about two/ two and a half inches long...

I don't know, we never got to see it's web.
:meow: We mainly have wood spiders here in NY, but I saw something very similar to a Black Widow once, it had the hourglass on the belly and everything. We don't know how it had got here but weren't going to take any chances with it. So for the safety of our dog we had to spray it with poison

I can't decide if it's pretty or scary! :XD: Your dad is really brave! If  that was rearing its fangs at me I'd be running screaming! :giggle:

Apparently, these spiders are harmless to humans (i looked up ~unicornhearts0000's link). Of course the spiders in the US would be common and harmless. See, in Australia, you see a spider and you pick up your lasso and cowboy hat 'cause you're going WRANGLING! Those Sydney Funnel-webs live in your garden, your garage, your shed, everywhere! And none of this 'more scared of you than you are of it' bullshit; that funnel-web will leap at you like it's motherf***ing Sparticus! Its fangs can bite through a thumbnail, and the first thing you realize is how much it bloody hurts! The first symptom of being bitten is an intense pain, followed shortly by bleeding, sweating, twitching, increased blood pressure and heart rate, nausea, vomiting, difficulty breathing, more intense spasms, your blood becomes acidic, unconsciousness and, finally, death in anywhere between half an hour to a few days.

You see a spider in the US, you put it in a jar. You see a spider in Australia, you burn the bugger alive with a blowtorch, go full-Rambo on its potential family and home, treat your garden with napalm and move house.

O_O OH... MY.... *hides behind pillow* I-I think Australia is dangerous... that thing sounds terrible!! :iconshiverplz: Is there a antidote for it? or is it just ya know... death to all who get bitten?

I still want to go to Australia but I think I'm gonna be super careful when I do.... ^.^"

Yeah, there's antivenom for it XD Although, at least with red-backs, some damage can be permanent. My mum was bitten by a red-back on her arm about 10 years ago, and the spot is still numb!

lol I know how that feels, when ever I decide to take a bath there always has to be a dead Daddy longleg in the water... sticking to showers... seems less scary XD
